BACK GROUND:

Babs is usually a very happy child.  Since she was born she’s been very mellow and well behaved.  She loves to smile and laugh and do the things that all children do at her age.

However, this changed very recently.  Most teachers at school have dubbed it “pubescent troubles” and that’s just the way Barbara wants it.  She would hate to have to explain that her dad has been drinking pretty heavily.  After her dad got laid off from work, he started hitting the bottle again, not to mention some of the people who live in his house.  While Barbara’s marks tend to be easier to hide (like on her rear or arms), her mother’s marks take time and makeup, something Babs has suddenly had an abundance of.

The only time she’s really happy is when she is either alone in her room or visiting Gotham City.  She loves visiting with her Uncle Jim and Aunt Barbara (she is her namesake after all) and the new baby.  Besides, they have that new superhero in Gotham, and Babs loves the feeling of being in the same city as him.

PYSCHOLOGICAL PROFILE

Barbara is developing some serious problems at a fast rate. Her best friend, the one she called Supergirl, just recently moved away, taking with her any safety she felt back in New York.  Her father is abusing her and her mother, forcing Babs to grow up quickly.  Hiding marks and explaining constant absences are also making her a very adept liar.

She has developed a fondness for the superheroes running around her world.  People like Superman and the new one just inside of Gotham, appeal to her because she feels that they know something that cops don’t.  She feels that, while she couldn’t go to the police about her problems, somehow these superheroes would know automatically and could save her.

Not to mention she’s going through puberty.
