BACK GROUND       

 

Diana of Themiscyra was the only child born to the legendary race of Amazons. The Amazons of Themiscyra were a race created by the pantheon of female goddesses in Greek mythology to help promise understanding between the genders. Promised by the Gods she worshipped that one day she would save the world, Diana has been bestowed with super strength, the ability to fly and the beauty of Aphrodite. 

 

The Gods sensing that evil is brewing in the outside world ordered the Amazons to send a champion to the what they deemed the man’s world, in order to learn how to survive in it and when the times comes be prepared to defend against it. Diana’s mother Hippolyta (known as Polly whenever she visits), forbade her to enter the contests created to select this champion. However, disguising herself, Diana enters the contest and won the right to represent the Amazons in the man’s world.

 

She has just arrived at Smallville University, selecting the place because it was a low key place where she would not be noticed as she attempts to fit into the man’s world. Diana stays with Julia Kapatelis, a professor of Ancient History at Smallville University who is aware of her identity and owes her life to the Amazons during a chance encounter as a child.

Diana is a babe in the woods. While she is ignorant in the man’s worlds, she has a very strong sense of compassion and believes that violence is not the answer. She is deeply devout to her gods and goes out of her way to be helpful, even to her enemies.
