BOSSHARD

Before the Lincoln County Wars, Benjamin Bosshard
had already allied himself with the men who would be called the Santa Fe Ring, the ringleaders of
the violence that ran rife through the Territory. Bosshard
had been one of its enforcers long before the violence was given official
title and had no peer in being able to terrorize settlers into capitulating
to the desires of wealthy landowners. One of Laurence Murphy's men, Bosshard was instrumental in acquiring land for Thomas Cotran. When such practices came to the town of Eagle's
Nest, the Marshall in residence there, one Peter Reeves, father to a young
Ezra Standish and husband to Maude Standish, stood up for the beleaguered
victims. By investigating Cotran and attempting to
have the villainous lawyer disbarred, Reeves earned Contran's
deep animosity and Bosshard was sent to order the Marshall to desist. Never one to
stand down from a fight, Marshall Reeves refused and was warned that when the
time came, not only would he pay but his family would pay beside him.
Eventually, continued defiance by Reeves forced Cotran's
hand and Bosshard was send to expediate
the matter permanently. Unfortunately, the Marshall's family escaped and
despite Bosshard's best efforts, he had to be
content with only spilling Peter Reeves blood.
Thirty years
later, Bosshard is recognised
by Maude Standish in the town of Four Corners while attempting to
secure more land for his employers. Almost killed by Maude, Bosshard learns that his past has come back to haunt him.

Hannibal Julius Alexander
|
|
Hannibal Alexander Julius named after some of
history's greatest military minds believes himself to be an incarnation of
those notable men and dreamt of someday proving himself on the battle field
like those ancient commanders. Unfortunately, Julius' dreams to not the match
the reality of his ability and during the Civil War where he was Chris Larabee's commanding officer, Julius was not above
sacrificing his men to achieve a victory. Infamous for having the highest
casualty rate of any commander in the entire war, Julius almost condemned
Chris Larabee and Buck Wilmington to that same fate
when he commanded the platoon to take a hill without waiting for
reinforcements.
Chris knew that if they were to follow Julius' orders to
conduct a full frontal assault on the hill, they would have been cut down by
enemy fire before they even crossed the field. Thus Chris countermanded
Julius' orders without his knowing and offered a solution that would see the
platoon survive the engagement. Infuriated as he perceived Chris attempting
to steal his victory, Julius shoots Chris in the back, not anticipating the
loyalty engendered by the men for the young Lieutenant who had saved their
lives. Julius is brought to a military tribunal along side his Sargeant and henchman Bellison
where he is imprisoned for the duration of the war.
Whilst in prison, Julius blames Chris for all his troubles
but considers revenge a poor pastime, dreaming instead of the time when he
takes his place a military genius among the great of the path. When his
family connections allow him to bribe the guards at the prison where he is
jailed to set him free, both Julius and Bellison
finally achieved the freedom they have waited and planned for. Once freed,
Julius begins the creation of the Citadel, an organization whose objectives
are to over throw the present government by creating instability.
Recruiting from all walks of life, Julius promises his
followers a new order based on equality and justice, something sorely lacking
in the dissatisfied groups in the post war climate.
His attempt to destroy the railroad through the Territory is thwarted by the
seven after Ezra Standish dupes him into believing that he is joining the
Citadel. Julius, who also has slight homosexual proclivities
is incensed that Ezra used his attraction for the gambler to rescue Mary when
Julius kidnaps her for vengeance against Chris Larabee.
Following the failure of his plans at the railroad, Julius retreated to lick
his wounds and plan his next venture, however not before giving Ezra a
promise that he would return.
Julius has learnt during his years in prison how to be a
master tactician and his shortcomings in military undertakings during the war
have all but been eliminated. Julius is not above acting dishonorably to
carry out his plans and Ezra Standish has superseded his hatred for Chris Larabee.
Julius had vowed to destroy him and found the opportunity
some months later when he kidnapped Ezra and subjected him to a brutal sexual
assualt. Turning Ezra loose following the rape,
Julius then continued with his plans to incite the Native Americans in the
Territory to riot, frightening them with tales of doom with the coming of
statehood. Using the considerable resources at the disposal of his Citadel,
Julius provided the Indians with guns and ammunition, intending to turn the
Territory red in a blood bath and instigate a full scale riot which he would
quell and be seen as the conquering hero by the rest of America. The plan was
thwarted by the seven who learned about the riot before it took place and
took appropriate measures to warn the army. During the course of events, Ezra
learnt the location of Julius' whereabouts and along with Chris Larabee, tracked the would be revolutionary to his hiding
place and ended his life in a gruesome act of revenge befitting the violation
he had inflicted upon the gambler.

members of the seven, but also the affection of Josiah Sanchez.
Audrey and Josiah have approached their relationship

Roderick Packard is rich and successful.
He is what is considered by the upper crust of Philadelphian society as 'new

one of them. Packard who is very aware of his status in their eyes was determined
to change this. However, money no matter how much of it he had,
could not ensure their acceptance of him as one of their own. It was at this
time that he met Donald Avery, the real estate millionaire from one of the
most notable families in Philadelphia high society. Both men
perhaps recognizing something in each other soon became fast friends and
Packard learnt that Avery had a daughter named Julia.
Reports by his private investigators told Packard that Julia
was exactly what he needed. Although very beautiful and with a considerable
dowry and inheritance behind her, Julia's prospects for finding a good
husband were slim. Rumors and gossip had it told that the young woman was a
wanton with scores of lovers everywhere. Her reputation though unproven was
enough to make the other families wary about considering her as a potential
bride for one of their sons. Roderick chose not to make light of the
situation to Avery, caring little whether or not the man knew since it served
no purpose to tell him. Instead, he asked for Julia's hand and was accepted
as Avery's future son in law. No one consulted Julia.
Their first meeting was less than auspicious. He considered
her extremely beautiful but it was obvious that the feeling was not mutual.
It mattered little to Packard who knew that if Julia turned down the proposal
she would be left without a penny. All he could see was the foothold he would
finally have in society once the Avery name was attached to him.
Unfortunately, on the eve of their wedding, a most opulent affair, Julia
vanished and continues to remain vanished, leaving Packard the joke of Philadelphia and swearing vengeance

Pemberton, and began building herself a new life in the small frontier town.
Almost immediately attracted to him as soon as Julia cast her

In time however, Julia's determination to be someone other

Nichols who more or less ran the town and did not take too kindly to
Bracken’s efforts to usurp territory. The resulting blood bath had more or

Determined that he would not die by the Nichols’ hands, Dylan
fled Kansas and rode out west,
finding Coventry not long after he
arrived in the Territory. The sheriff was an old man who took a liking to
Dylan and hired him as a deputy. Deciding that he liked the respect commanded
by the job, Dylan made soon short work of work of Sherrif
Clarence Rochester, ensuring that the older man's death be considered
accidental. He was old enough for such a thing to be believed and Dylan
promptly assumed the badge and began calling himself Sheriff Pierce. Coventry

Coventry had resisted at first

he would not be leaving unless he was in a pine box.
He would have

Chris Larabee he was indirectly responsible for the
death of all her brothers and her fathers. Damien, a rapist who had battered
several young women to death after assaulting them had done the same to Buck
Wilmington's fiancee, Alice. Efforts to bring
Damien to justice before hand had proved unsuccessful and finally Chris Larabee, freshly discharged from the army, volunteered to
accomplish the task to keep Buck from making the attempt and getting himself
killed by the rancher's formidable army of men loyal to him.
Chris infiltrated the Westbrook ranch, working as a hired
hand for several months until the rancher's guard was down before Chris set
his plan to apprehend Damien into motion. In the subsequent firefight, Victoria was forced to see her
father and two older brothers killed while Damien was taken away to face
justice. He would later hang. The shock drove her mother to her deathbed and
destroyed what was left of the family. Victoria married and remained at the
Westbrook ranch, her younger sister having left the tragic family history
aside by moving to the East. Following her husband's death, Victoria began her plans of
vengeance against Chris Larabee.
Beginning with the attempted murder of Nathan Jackson, the
rape of Inez Recillos who Victoria knew to be someone Buck
cared for deeply, she increased the bounty on Vin
Tanner considerably and smeared Mary Travis' good name. Posing as the owner
of the new emporium, Victoria planned to murder Mary
Travis by burning her alive, the way Sarah and Adam was lost to Chris. It was
only by a fraction of time that Chris and Buck discovered her true identity.
In the same fire she had meant to take Mary's life, Victoria lost hers.
